This trekking expedition offer you the chance to stay with local families, the surviving descendants of the ancient Sogdians, whose lifestyle was unaffected by time and external influences. The tremendous wild mountainscapes will surround you each step along your journey, a poignant and majestic reminder of the might of the natural world and its impact on its inhabitants. The route cover three valleys (Yagnob, Romit and Ziddy) and includes a trek over two mountains passes. The mountain pass does not require any technical mountaineering experience, though a good trekking skills and physical condition are required on the mountain, it will be taught on the higher slopes and narrow trails. Finally, the trek contains the river crossings with support of trekking crew and safety ropes.

Itinerary

Arriving in Dushanbe — which means “Monday” in Tajik — you’ll learn about Tajikistan past and present. This informative
city tour includes the National Museum and the impressive Hissor
Fortress, as well as more modern sites such as Rudaki Park (with
its colourful monuments) and the Navruz Hall.

Early in the morning, we drive to Romit Nature Reserve. After 4 hours of driving we reach the Rufigar village from where we start
trekking to our camping spot. On the way, we will see the Chinese
gold mine that hardly affecting the local environment. (2150m,
5km, +290m/-40m, 3hours).

We start trekking towards Yagnob valley over Zahob pass 3220m. It is going to be an easy trekking on relatively wider
terrain. You must be careful while trekking here as you
might encounter snakes. We reach our campsite at the
conjunction of Yagnob, Barzangi and Takali rivers. The
region is known as Takali and the beginning of Yagnob
valley. (11km, +1010m/-420m, 6 hours, 3020m)

Today, we start trekking down along the Yagnob river. First, we need to cross Yagnob and Takali rivers on widen places. With
support team and safety ropes we cross the rivers, so don’t forget
your sandals, they are needed to cross the rivers. The path narrows
and going to be on the right side of the slope. Inclines remains
gradual and few hopes over side streams. Camping on the foot of
Tabaspin pass.

After, breakfast we continue gradually descending. It is going to be another beautiful day on the greenish and pristine areas of
Yagnob valley but long and tiring day. If we are lucky there will be some summer camp of shepherds, otherwise marmots are the
most frequently met friends among the Yagnob fauna. At the end of the day we reach Navobod which is the farest abandon village
of Yagnobis who were forced to leave their house and relocated to the cotton fields in Zafarabad region. On the hills you can hike up
and see the abandon houses and shrine. (17km, +880m/-1190m, 8 hours, 2660m)

Today we have two options, either we take slight longer trek and cross to the other side of the bridge or we take a shorter route but
trickier to get more doses of adrenaline. We the safest and longer
route. It is going to be over Maydon mountains pass 3190m on the
abandon soviet road built by geologists. At the end of the day, we
reach Kirronte village which is populated by Tajiks and it is the
most remote populated village in the valley.
(16km, +970/-920m, 7 hours, 2550m)

Accommodation: homestay

Today it is going to be a short and easy day. So, we take it easy and get opportunity to explore the village and the way of life of
local people. After lunch, we continue hiking to Pskan village –
the largest Yagnobi village in the valley. (7km, +370/-460m, 3
hours, 2550m). Tonight we stay at the Saidmurod’s homestay.

This day starts with an easy hike along Tobobikul river by taking the clear path. On the way you can visit Garmen and Sokan
villages. Camping at altitude 2680m. (9km, +690m/-420m, ~ 6
hours).

Today we hike towards Aghbakul pass. On the way will see shepherds and many marmots. The surface of the area turns
from green valleys to rocky surface. Camping under the
pass at 3510m. (10km, +1060m/+180m, ~ 6 hours)

After breakfast, we ascend to the Aghbakul pass 3960m leaving Yagnob valley behind and enjoying green nature Ziddi gorge. From this part up to Hojisankhok there will be easy route down the gorge surrounded by impressive mountain ranges from the east and 3 pretty lakes on the way to HojaSangkhok shrine and mineral spring. In HojaSangkhok you will be picked up by our driver. (9km, +750m/-1130m, ~5 hours).
You will be transferred to the airport. Have a safe flight!
