Get ready for an exciting adventure as we begin our trek towards the stunning Gharm valley. We'll follow the Gharm River and pass through a wide valley filled with lush green fields and majestic mountain views. Our first stop will be in Jafr, where we'll savor a delicious local meal in an orchard filled with 32 different types of apple trees. You might even get a chance to meet the fascinating and environmentally conscious owner of the orchards. After lunch, we'll continue our journey, and though the road might be a bit bumpy, we'll finally reach the village of Depshar, where we'll spend the night at our guide's house.
Driving time: approx. 8-9 hours (approx. 330 km) Overnight at guesthouse (approx. 2,100 m)
Today's adventure takes us on a radial hike to explore the awe-inspiring glaciers located in one of the stunning gorges near our village in Depshar. As we hike through the rugged terrain, we'll be treated to breathtaking views of the towering peaks and the shimmering ice formations of the glaciers. We'll stop for a relaxing picnic lunch amidst this breathtaking natural scenery before continuing our hike. As the day comes to an end, we'll make our way
back to the local guide's house where we will rest and recharge for the next day's adventures.
We meet our trekking team in the morning and pack our gear onto pack animals. As we ascend, we enjoy stunning views of the mountains and river valley. We have a picnic for lunch and then continue to our campsite on the Hochalm. It's important to drink hot tea and protect ourselves from the sun since we'll be covering a lot of altitude. We'll spend the night in tents near yurt settlements and herds of semi-nomadic shepherds. It's a unique experience since foreign visitors are not common here. Hike: approx. 6–7 hours, Overnight: tent (approx. 3,000 m)
The trek today is pleasant as we hike on the Sazayel Shepherd's Path that leads us gently uphill through beautiful green hills. We pass by shepherds' settlements and are greeted warmly. We also hike on the Peter I mountain range, which is a breathtaking mountain range in the northwestern high mountains of Tajikistan known as the Pamir. It's an easy hike with stunning views of nearby glaciers, green hills, and meadows. We end our day by camping on the shores of Maidakul lake, which is at approx. 3,400 m. There's enough time for swimming in the lake and admiring the majestic mountain peaks that reflect in the water.
Hike: approx. 4–5 hours overnight in a tent (approx. 3,400 m)
Today we head towards the vast Karashura high plateau with stunning views of the snow-capped mountains of the "Peter I. Range" in the south. We'll ride horses to cross a river and enjoy a picnic lunch along the way. We may even encounter friendly shepherds who might invite us for some tea. As we reach our destination, we may witness the traditional process of making butter and yogurt in one of the yurts, and perhaps even lend a hand. In the evening, we'll set up camp under the starry sky and enjoy the tranquility of the wilderness. Overnight in tents near yurts.
Hike: approx. 5–6 hours overnight in a tent (approx. 3,200 m)
On the final stretch of our journey, we take it easy and enjoy a leisurely hike up a hill. As we pass a small Ayloq with friendly residents, we are greeted by stunning views of the magnificent Yashilkul lake. Setting up camp by the lake, we are surrounded by breathtaking mountain landscapes and the tranquil waters of the lake. It's almost as if we can catch a rainbow here. With the rest of the day to ourselves, we can swim in the lake, explore the area on foot, or simply bask in the peacefulness of the surroundings while reading a book. Hike: approx. 3–4 hours. Overnight in a tent (approx. 3,300 m)
Today marks the end of our trek, and we'll be picked up by our drivers to head back to the road leading to Dushanbe. The journey may take 7-8 hours due to the bumpy mountain slopes, but it will be worth it for the breathtaking views of the Tavildara region's stunning landscapes. As we leave the wilderness behind, we can reflect on the incredible experiences we had on the trek and the memories that will last a lifetime.
